28 Weeks Later was released in 2007. Danny Boyle , who directed the first film and the prologue to the second film, said in January that conversations about another 28 Days film were taking place. The specific way 28 Days Later was shot prevents it from being remastered like other films, such as ones shot on film. There is no magic button on a computer to fix this, not even modern A.I. upscaling techniques, because that detail is lost forever due to the Canon XL 1's limitations that Danny Boyle filmed the movie on. It was followed in 2007 by sequel 28 Weeks Later, with neither Boyle or Murphy returning and Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo behind the camera.
